about SANDERS shoe last designed by "The Old Curiosity Shop"
About The Old Curiosity Shop
Dating back to 1567, The Old Curiosity Shop is one of London's most historic landmarks — its name immortalised by Charles Dickens in his celebrated novel. In 1994, shoe designer Daita Kimura chose this storied address as the home for his handmade shoe shop.
Kimura moved to London in 1988 and went on to study at Cordwainers College. He later inherited the handmade shoe line of the legendary shoe designer John Moore, continuing his legacy. He has since crafted handmade shoes for numerous designer brands, building a reputation as one of London's most distinctive voices in footwear.
Rooted in British shoemaking tradition yet infused with the punk energy, musical spirit, and contemporary sensibility that define London, Kimura's shoes occupy a world entirely their own. For this collection, he has designed a new last exclusively for SANDERS.

What is a Last?
A last is the wooden mould around which a shoe is built — the starting point that determines everything: silhouette, fit, and feel. Even with identical materials and construction, a different last produces an entirely different shoe. This collection was born from a last newly designed by Daita Kimura, brought to life by the craftsmen of SANDERS in Northampton, England.
