Sanders & Sanders Ltd. was founded in 1873 by Sanders brothers William and Thomas in Northampton, Rushden, the holy land of shoes. Initially, it started with only 5 craftsmen, but with the development of the Goodyear manufacturing method and the contract to supply military shoes to the British Army in the 1910s, it developed greatly, and now it is a family management that continues for 5 generations. By using the traditional Goodyear welt manufacturing method with craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation and the use of carefully selected natural materials for most of the parts, we still maintain the simple and sturdy shoe making.
As a proof of that, we have acquired the ISO 9001 Assurance certification, which is given only to a few manufacturers in the field of the British shoe industry.
With the skill of traditional goodyear-welting handed down from the old craftsmen and well selected natural materials, Sanders are able to maintain the quality of the shoes to this day, being awarded the ISO 9001 quality assurance certification, which is rarely given for shoemakers in the UK.
In addition, we have established a unique management system that enables efficient mass production against the backdrop of supply to the British Ministry of Defense (MOD) and other military and police forces around the world.
Therefore, we are able to reduce manufacturing costs even when compared with other Northampton shoemakers using the same materials and manufacturing methods.
As a result, it is possible to manufacture traditional Made in England shoes with excellent cost performance.
Through years of supplying shoes and boots to MOD, police and military in other countries, Sanders have established the unique management systems leading Sanders to quantity but also quality production in an efficient way.
Thanks to this, Sanders can highly save its production cost compared to other shoemakers and so can offer traditional “Made in England” shoes of excellent cost performance.
